On September 21, General Secretary and State President To Lam gave an interview to Bloomberg TV during his trip to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, setting out key messages on Vietnam's development direction in the new era, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnam ready for a new stage of contribution

He said that after 40 years of Doi Moi (renovation), Vietnam has become a country with a rising international standing, contributing more and more to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Trade drives Vietnam–US relations

Vietnam regards the United States as a partner of strategic importance. Differences, especially in economics and trade, are inevitable in an increasingly close relationship and should be addressed through the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Concrete results in foreign affairs

When relationships are established and upgraded, they need real substance. Signed agreements must be implemented, and the opportunities that open up must turn into concrete programs, projects and results.

To achieve its strategic goals for 2026–2030, Vietnam remains committed to independence, self-reliance and strategic autonomy, and is establishing a new growth model based on science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and high-quality human resources.
