Over 50 Tonnes of Grouper Die After Floods
After days of heavy rain in Thanh Hoa, dozens of tonnes of cage-farmed grouper at the Lach Bang river mouth have died en masse.
The cause was identified as shock from a sudden change in water salinity when large volumes of fresh water poured in after prolonged flooding.
The incident affected 14 fish farming households in the area, each losing between 2 and 10 tonnes of fish, with total losses running into billions of dong. One farmer said the floods left his family with almost nothing, as the dead fish could only be sold at a fraction of the price of live ones.
